Group and Educational Tours

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing you can do is keep your mind young. ~Mark Twain (1835 – 1910)

The museum’s educational programs are not limited just to youngsters in elementary school learning about state and local history. We offer specialized tours for Girl Scouts (We have an Explore the Hunter House Patch!) and Boy Scouts, students attending local colleges and universities, all ages of public and homeschooled students, and adult learners. Our visitors are all people, all ages, all with an interest and a desire to look back to the past to a time of grace and elegance. Whatever your specific tour topic needs, we can accommodate you.

Please come and visit with us with your church group, your garden club, your Red Hat group, your students, your interns, your scouts; any group of 10 or more receive a discounted admission price.

There is a series of specially designed tours available for scouts and for students; please call us at 757-623-9814 for the details. As you are working on badges and Standards of Learning, please advise us as you make your tour reservations. If your group has a particular area of interest we will certainly accommodate that and are happy to do so.

Reservations can be made simply by calling the museum. We prefer not to accept reservations online.

We are proud to offer internships to college students. Our internships are designed around the individual needs of the student and his or her program requirements. Please see the Volunteer and Internship page or call the museum for further information.

Special educational programming is also offered throughout the season for groups of all ages and interests from pre-school to book clubs. Check out our special events page and see if something strikes your fancy!
